There are two Directors of the Company, Duncan Collinson and Colin Redpath. Duncan works at Colinton and Colin at Buckstone. Our Marchmont office is managed by Gareth Bogie one of our Assistants under the supervision of Colin Redpath.

The firm has a Building Society "agency" with the Dunfermline Building Society in the Colinton office.

The firm carries out a variety of legal work including the purchase and sale of residential property (flats and houses), estate agency, executries (winding up a deceased person's affairs after their death), Wills and Powers of Attorney. The firm does not do any court work - either civil court work (e.g. debt recovery, divorce, industrial injuries, employment law, tribunals) or criminal work.

While the firm does carry out the different forms of legal work mentioned above, the firm's core business is the purchase and sale and related estate agency work for flats and houses primarily in the areas of town in which the firm is based.

The firm likes to think it is different from a number of other firms in Edinburgh in the following ways: -
1 - Everyone is on first name terms.
2 - All our offices are non-smoking.
3 - Based in local communities, we have windows onto the streets which we use to display our properties. We therefore do not have the traditional "Charlotte Square" image.
4 - At just over 20 years old the firm is, in Edinburgh terms, still a very young firm.
5 - Some of the Partners and staff dress a little more informally than might traditionally be expected of Solicitors.
6 - The firm also sponsors local organisations including Friends of Craiglockhart Nature Trail, Colinton Scouts, Firhill High School Hockey Team and the Buckstone Primary School Chess Club.

These differences, however, should not let you think that we do not take our business seriously. We take it very seriously indeed. We find that the majority of our business comes from existing clients who are coming back to us again (because they are satisfied with the service which we have offered to them) or from friends, neighbours or relatives of those existing clients to whom they have referred us. Unless we were offering a very good service to our clients this would not happen.

At the top of our letterhead you will find a motto "Traditional Values - Modern Practice" which means we like to think we embody traditional values of courtesy and service to our clients while operating in a modern way (both modern office equipment and surroundings) and in a customer friendly manner. We are always interested in new ideas and new clients and also new members of staff can sometimes bring refreshing and useful changes to the way we carry out our work.
